Due to Covid-19, the Ngoma Dzakanaka Marimba Band of Medfield and the Dale Street Marimba Class will not run during the 2020-2021 school year.
Ideally I like to have 10 to 12 students in a group. In any given year, if there is enough interest, I will run up to two performing groups and a marimba class. Below outlines the schedules for the two groups and the class. Generally, I will not run a group with less than 9 students, but I have been known to make exceptions. If I do not have enough students to warrant two performing groups, I will only run one, and those participating will determine which day the group will practice. If I do not have enough students to form one performing group, unfortunately, I will need to suspend the program for a year. The marimba class is separate from the performing groups. I need at least 8 students to run a class, so the marimba class may still run even if the performing groups are suspended.
High Stickers:
During the 2021-2022 school year, the High Stickers will rehearse on Wednesday from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM. Due to school dismissal, students cannot arrive until 3:15 PM. Rehearsals are held in the Memorial School Music Room once per week unless the elementary schools have a half day, or there is no school. If your child is a Dale Street Student and is playing with the High Stickers and you want to have him or her walk over to Memorial after school every Wednesday and if necessary, walk to the Dale Street MAP after rehearsal, please complete the Walker Permission Forms and return them to me (Mr. R) directly or place them in my Memorial School teacher mail box. To obtain a copy of the forms, click on the link description below. Parents must make arrangements for their children for arrival to marimba rehearsal and communicate those arrangements with the Dale Street Dismissal Manager. Unless walking to MAP, pickup is at 4:15 PM in the Memorial School Music Room.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR MARIMBA PARENTS:
Your child will have fun, but it also takes time and teamwork and when someone is missing, rehearsals are effected; therefore, your child should attend ALL REHEARSALS. Again, the performing group and the marimba class rehearsals are held once per week unless the elementary schools have a half day, or there is no school. Please email me before rehearsal at [email protected] if your child will be absent for any reason, so that I know he or she is safe at home. If your child is a member of the Dale Street Marimba Class, also contact Maureen Barrett at [email protected] and update the Dale Dismissal Manager by 1:30 pm.
If your child needs to arrive late to rehearsal or must leave early for any reason, please let me know. I can definitely work around it. If your child will be absent for an extended period of time, he or she is responsible for remembering his or her parts. If your child does not remember his or her parts, it would be helpful if your child could arrive early to rehearsal or remain afterwards so that I or other group members can help him or her re-learn the parts.
There may be instances where I (Mr. R) may need to cancel or re-schedule a rehearsal. If I need to do so, I will email everyone on or before the morning of the scheduled rehearsal.
